Natural Bar Soap

The # 1 idea behind all of TribalMama's bar soaps is to be a healthy product to use daily. Many of today's personal care products are produced with cheap chemicals that do not need to be used. While they may be harmless to use for a short time, over a long time of exposure have not helped you to improve your over all health and well being!

Our original Natural Bar Soap recipe is formulated to Nourish you; (listed in order by the amount used, most - least); coconut oil, palm kernel oil, shea butter, sweet almond oil, and 100% therapeutic grade essential oil (s).

List of Commonly used Toxic Ingredients that You should avoid in your soap:

Fragrance.  If the ingredient is vague...it is more than likely hiding something. “Fragrance” can actually be a cocktail of chemicals and you’d never know it. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesn’t require companies to disclose the breakdown of a fragrance’s ingredients to consumers because the chemicals that produce fragrance are considered “trade secrets.” Most of the time, synthetic chemicals and cancer-causing toxins (like phthalates, commonly used to make fragrances last longer) are shielded under this overused sneaky term. Constant exposure to fragrances has been shown to negatively impact the part of the nervous system that consists in the brain and spinal cord and subsequently coordinates the activity of the entire nervous system. It may also trigger allergies, migraines and asthma symptoms.

Parabens. These ingredients are estrogen mimickers.  Once applied to the skin, they enter the bloodstream and the body mistakes them for the hormone estrogen. When the body thinks there is an abnormally high amount of estrogen present in the bloodstream due to the presence of these hormone disrupters, it reacts in various ways; decreasing muscle mass, increasing fat deposits, causing early onset of puberty and harming reproductive functions in both men and women.

Sulfates. These chemicals are used to give a good lather as well as bubbles for soap. Common sulfates are SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and SLES (sodium laureth sulfate). Sulfates strip the skin of its natural oils and increase penetration of the skin’s surface. They are also irritants for people with sensitive skin or eczema.

Triclosan.  Recent studies have found that triclosan promotes the emergence and growth of bacteria resistant to antibiotic cleansers. It also creates dioxin, a carcinogen that has been found in high levels in human breast milk. Dioxins are known to have disruptive effects on the endocrine system and negatively affect thyroid functions. Dioxin is the primary toxic component of Agent Orange.
